Bitcoin mining operators in Texas shut down their electricity-guzzling machines. Nearly all industrial-scale mining in the state powered down, an industry association says. Texas has become one of the go-to locations for cryptocurrency entrepreneurs. Extreme weather events, largely driven by climate change, have continued to strain Texas’s power system.
