Exchange-traded funds are the most common indirect form of investment in bitcoin. The Grayscale Bitcoin Trust is a closed-end trust that tracks the value of Bitcoin. It had $18.5 billion worth of assets under management (AUM) as of June 2022. There are bitcoin spot ETFs in Canada and Europe, but the financial instrument isn’t approved in the U.S. There are also indirect ways institutions can invest in bitcoin, like the Bitcoin Trust, which is managed by Digital Currency Group, which also owns CoinDesk. The trust is a unit that manages the trust, which has $18 billion in AUM. Source
