Nearly 30% of the world’s wealthiest people are either directly or indirectly invested in cryptocurrencies. Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and Jamie Dimon have been some of the biggest critics of digital currencies. A recent survey by Forbes found 18% of those surveyed had at least 1% of their fortune in crypto. Mark Cuban is one of the most famous converts, saying he’d “rather have bananas than Bitcoin” and continues to publicly back the investments, even as prices splutter. Experts say the shift among billionaires could be attributed to a general increase in the acceptance of cryptocurrencies and availability of traditional players in the crypto industry, which makes it easier for people on the fence to get involved in the fintechs, experts say.
